For those that missed, there is a Medicare specific informational session Aug 24th at 9 AM. Non-Medicare patients are welcome to join at this event as we will provide general information on the benefits of the direct primary care model, as well as specifics for those with Medicare.
If you prefer an evening informational session join us at the next one, 5:00 PM on Monday 9/12/16. Latecomers and children are welcome. Snacks will be provided. Sign up for one of the info sessions here.
A good question that came up on Tuesday was “How does direct primary care work with referrals?” The answer is simple: I will always work with your insurance to your benefit, including processing referrals, prior authorizations or whatever other hoops are required to get you the care, imaging, medication and specialists you need.
The challenge comes with networks that exclude out-of-network physicians from ordering privileges. Many insurance companies allow an out of networks physician to order tests and referrals. Generally HMO plans are more restrictive but some are flexible so it’s best to review your plan specifics together.
If you have questions about your insurance and if it is compatible with this model, set up a free meet and greet and we can go over your specific details. To sign up go to https://mydenverdo.md-hq.com/registration (it will seem like you are registering as a patient, but there is no commitment required after registration; it simply allows for easy scheduling).
Have a great week and remember, if your summer has been long and fun, we can help reset your metabolism after Labor Day. If you need more energy or want to figure out what may be triggering a chronic condition, you will be sure to want to join us for two weeks of health coaching and support.
